STEM is the elective that I picked in Dwyer Middle. During this first part of the course we built VEX Robots from the manual and took part in a small competition.

As part of the competition we had to join another team to stack blocks on the field in under three minute. The amount of blocks stacked and whether the color of the blocks match determined the amount of points that the two teams received.
For this competition we had to build a basic robot on six wheels (two motors), and a gripper attachment that also had two motors. They allowed it to grab and release objects, while also being able to lift and lower them. The robot also has a place to store a block of the specific size in the back of the structure, helping the robot carry at least two blocks at a time.

In order to operate the robot we connected it to a controller via Bluetooth. Then, we opened the settings and assigned each port to a button or switch on the controller. No programming was necessary in this part of the project
